En un día como hoy pero de 1987, los Melvins lanzaron El EP de las seis canciones, su primer EP

En un día como hoy pero de 1992, aunque el sencillo no ha sido lanzado comercialmente aún, en las radios aterriza “Lithium”‘ como No.25  en el Billboard de rocl moderno. Kurt dice que la canción no es necesariamente sobre religión, que es sobre la depresión y recurrir a la religión como un último recurso.

El estudio de grabación de Minnesota rural donde Nirvana hizo su último álbum vuelve a estar en el útero.

Pachyderm Studio en Cannon Falls–que estuvo inactivo el  año pasado tras varios años de declive–está siendo reacondicionado por uno de los operadores de estudio más reputados las ciudades gemelas, que espera volver a su antigua gloria. Simplemente no se puede utilizar el nombre del antiguo del lugar.

La casa de la época de los años 1960 y con mucho arbolado, a alojado entre otros a  Kurt Cobain, Soul Asylum, PJ Harvey, Live y muchas otras estrellas del rock en la década de 1990, fue adquirida el año pasado por John Kuker, cuyo vientre sórdido de criados en el Minneapolis studio ahora opera en Los Angeles y Nueva York.

Kuker posee la propiedad pero no el equipo de estudio o el nombre de Pachyderm. No hay problema, dice. Tentativamente planea llamarla Seedy Underbelly North. También recientemente trajó  una consola de grabación que dijo fue utilizada por Bob Marley en la década de 1970 en el estudio de la calle cuenca Island Records en London.El estudio reformado, unos 45 minutos al sur de las ciudades gemelas, se supone que abrirá en verano

The rural Minnesota recording studio where Nirvana made its last album is in utero again.

Pachyderm Studio in Cannon Falls — which sat dormant last year following several years of decline — is being overhauled by one of the Twin Cities’ most reputable studio operators, who hopes to return it to its former glory. He just can’t use the place’s old name.

The 1960s-era house and wooded, six-acre lot that hosted Kurt Cobain, Soul Asylum, PJ Harvey, Live and many other rock stars in the 1990s was purchased last year by John Kuker, whose Minneapolis-bred Seedy Underbelly studio now operates in Los Angeles and New York. Kuker owns the property but not the studio equipment or the Pachyderm name.

No problem, he says. He tentatively plans to call it Seedy Underbelly North. He also recently brought in a recording console that he said was used by Bob Marley in the early 1970s at Island Records’ Basin Street studio in London.

The refurbished studio, about 45 minutes south of the Twin Cities, should be rocking again by summer.

En el marco del NAMM 2012 (Convención anual de la industria de la música, que convoca desde personas ligadas a las empresas creadoras de instrumentos musicales hasta músicos, se llevó a cabo entre el 19 y 22 de enero pasado, en Anaheim, CA), Rob Cavuoto, para la revista Guitar World, se acercó a algunos músicos, para preguntarles algunas cosas. Y Mike Inez, quien fue una de los invitados a dicha convención, fue consultado acerca del nuevo álbum de Alice in Chains.

¿Cuál es la situación del próximo CD de Alicice in Chains?

Mike: “Regresamos de Sudamérica y hemos estado ocupados escribiendo. Vamos a entrar al estudio muy pronto y sólo estamos esperando que nuestro productor terminé con Rush en Toronto con su nuevo CD. Para nosotros, trataremos de no ponerle una fecha desde que no hemos dejado de trabajar, por lo que saldrá cuando esté listo.”

Actualmente, Rush está terminando su nuevo disco, “Clockwork Angels”, y se espera que sea publicado a mediados de este 2012. Por lo tanto, terminado el trabajo con Rush, el productor Nick Raskulinecz entrará a estudio con Alice in Chains para empezar a grabar el nuevo disco. El mismo Nick Raskulinecz había dicho con anterioridad que ya había trabajado con Alice in Chains en la etapa de preproducción del disco durante el 2011, de manera tal que para este 2012, iban a estar preparados para hacer el nuevo disco.

El estudio se llama Mates Rehearsal Studio según jjc19461 (El que lo puso en el foro). Pero bueno, ya sabéis, nunca os podéis fiar de los rumores, pero no estaría nada mal un nuevo disco de los Stone Temple Pilots

I know someone who owns this rehearsal studio at Los Angeles and he said Stone Temple Pilots were there. I think they either aer preparing for a tour, but it most likely is for the new album. Ill try to get my dad to contact him more so he can tell me the progress of the album/tour.
