“Grassroots”, la película sobre un periodista de Seattle que pierde su trabajo y a regañadientes tiene que ayudar a su amigo con su intento de ganar un asiento en el Consejo de la ciudad de Seattle, tendrá tres proyecciones en el próximo mes. La película está dirigida por Stephen Gyllenhaal y protagonizada por Jason Biggs, mejor conocido como “the pie fucker.” La película presenta dos canciones inéditas del gran Layne Staley de Alice In Chains.

Grassroots, the film about a Seattle journalist who loses his job and reluctantly agrees to help his oddball friend with his bid to earn a seat on the Seattle City Council, is set to have three screenings in the next month. The film is directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal and stars Jason Biggs, better known as “the pie fucker.” The film features two never before heard songs from the late great Layne Staley of Alice In Chains.

Layne Staley trabajó en solitario desde 1996 y parece que parte de ese material saldrá en la nueva película “Grassroots”

“Grassroots” (Base), una película centrada en Seattle del director Stephen Gyllenhaal, contará con dos canciones nunca antes escuchadas del fallecido cantante de Alice In Chains, Layne Staley. La película está protagonizada por Jason Biggs como crítico de música que de repente decide hacer campaña en un lugar altamente competitivo en el Consejo de la ciudad de Seattle.

Grassroots, a Seattle-centric film from director Stephen Gyllenhaal, will feature two never-before-heard songs from deceased Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley. The film stars Jason Biggs as an alt-weekly music critic who suddenly decides to campaign for a highly competitive spot on the Seattle City Council.

Foo Fighters grabaron una versión diferente de “One By One” en 2002 antes de desecharlo y volverlo a grabar. La banda estaba muy inestable en aquellos momentos y casi rompieron. El álbum desechado es conocido como ‘Million Dollar Demo’. Partes  instrumentales de la demo y ahora  dos canciones completas se están flitrando: Have it All y Come Back.

En relación con esas canciones de Courtney Love ¿todavía tienes cualquier propiedad de ellas en un sentido compositivo? ¿Sientes como si fuesen tus canciones?

Yeah. Simplemente no quiero hablar de eso, de ella, nunca más. Creo que ya está pasado, realmente no tengo nada que decir sobre ello. Como decimos en América, agua bajo el puente (Water under the bridge), ya sabes.

¿Por qué esta encarnación actual de la banda, te ves a ti mismo girando y grabando con ella durante los próximos diez años?

No me gusta poner plazos, porque como dije no tomo nada por hecho, pero estoy muy contento y espero que nos quedemos juntos. Me gusta mucho la banda, me gusta el hecho de que todo el mundo esté involucrado, me gusta el hecho de que todos participaron en el álbum y que trabajaron duro en él. Esta es la versión “soleada” de la banda. Yo estuve en la versión oscura de la banda, esta es la versión soleada, así que espero que la versión soleada dure tanto tiempo como sea posible.

In terms of those Courtney Love songs do you still have any ownership of them in a songwriting sense? Did you feel like they were your songs?
Yeah. I just don’t really want to talk about that, her, that subject anymore. I think it’s played out, I really don’t have anything else to say about it. As we say in America, water under the bridge, you know.

What about the current incarnation of the band, can you see yourself touring and recording with it for the next ten years?
I don’t like to put timeframes, because like I said I don’t take anything for granted, but I’m really happy and I hope that we stay together. I really like the band, I like the fact that everybody’s involved, I like the fact that we all participated on the album, and worked hard on it together. This is the sunny version of the band. I was in the dark version of the band, this is the sunny version, so I hope the sunny version lasts as long as possible.

Butch Vig cuenta a NME, “estaba trabajando en canciones, pero estaban sólo en su cabeza. Podría haber tocado algunas canciones para Eric… Alrededor de ese período de tiempo sólo quería hablar del álbum de Courtney. Nunca escuché ninguna de sus nuevas canciones.”

Spirit Of A Dog grabarán una nueva maqueta

Spirit Of A Dog is going to record a new demo

Este grupo de Grunge español están preparados para meterse en el estudio a grabar una nueva maqueta. La nueva grabación está compuesta de 7 nuevos temas (todos propios de Spirit y esta vez creen que no meterán ninguna versión) siguiendo la linea de grunge del anterior trabajo pero tirando también al rock alternativo y al punk, les falta grabar las pistas de voces y coros y mezclar, masterizar… , pero ya se puede adelantar que tienen mucha mejor calidad de sonido(y musical) que la primera maqueta.

Aquí os dejo un ejemplo de cómo suenan:
