Corey Taylor vuelve a echar mierda de Scott Weiland (Y de Axel Rose)

Seguro que todos recordáis que Corey Taylor, frontman de Stone Sour y Slipknot, llevó a cabo una audición para ser el nuevo vocalista de Velvet Revolver pero no terminó de concretarse por las reticencias de Slash. La banda se quedó sin cantante tras la marcha de Scott Weiland, frontman de Stone Temple Pilots.

Hablando con ESPN al respecto, Taylor confiesa que “lo que habría aportado a Velvet Revolver habría sido más la actitud que querían de Scott. Pero tuvieron la cara negativa de ello. Para mi, Scott es mucho más interesante cuando es un capullo con otra gente que cuando lo es en el escenario. Si, hace el baile-lagartija y esas cosas pero eso también acaba por estar visto. Cuando necesitas un frontman potente, él no lo fue porque estaba demasiado ocupado consigo mismo en lugar de entretener al público.”

Leyendo esto y sus anteriores declaraciones atacando a Weiland queda claro que -por motivos desconocidos- el vocalista de Stone Temple Pilots no es santo de la devoción de Taylor.

Pero, ¿qué habría aportado él a Velvet Revolver? “Habría tratado de construir un puente entre lo que tuvieron con Axl (Rose) y lo que tuvieron con Scott pero con un poquito más de sensación de pasarlo bien. Creo que podrían haberse relajado un poquito de muchas maneras, sabiendo que no tendrían que preocuparse de ‘¿Y qué hará el cantante? ¿Podremos salir al escenario a la hora? ¿Podremos ser capaces de hacer nuestro concierto sin cabrearnos?’”

What I would have brought to Velvet Revolver would have been more of the attitude that I think they wanted from Scott [Weiland], but they got the negative side of it, you know what I’m saying? Scott, to me, has always been the guy who — he’s much more interesting when he’s being a dick to other people than he is onstage, to be honest. I mean, he does the lizard weird-thing-dance and everything, but that gets old after a while. When you need that strong frontman, he just really didn’t do it because he was too busy just being into himself instead of engaging the audience.

So I would have tried to basically build a bridge between what they had with Axl [Rose] and what they had with Scott, but with a little more good time feel to it — ’cause I can have an attitude and still smile, all fucking day. I think, in a lot of ways, they could have relaxed a little bit, knowing that they wouldn’t have to worry about, What’s the singer going to do? Are we going to be able to go onstage on time? Are we going to be able to play our show without a fit being thrown? Are we going to be able to play the songs the way they were written?

Velvet Revolver no están ensayando con Scott Weiland para el concierto de reunión

Slash mencionó hace unos días en el Show de Eddie Trunk que Velvet Revolver no están y ni lo harñan, ensayando para su concierto de reunión en Los Angeles, que se celebra esta noche. La única preparación que tendrán es en la revisión de instrumentos del mismo concierto. Scott Weiland y Velvet Revolver  se reunirán en 4 canciones en homenaje a John O'Brien

Slash mentioned a few days ago on the Eddie Trunk Show that Velvet Revolver have not, and will not, rehearse for their reunion show in Los Angeles, which takes place tonight. The only preparation they will have is soundcheck. Scott Weiland and Velvet Revolver plan on performing 4 songs at tonight’s John O’Brien tribute show.

El plan principal de banda es entrar en el estudio a principios de este año, segun Cantrell. La ruptura entre las grabaciones  no estaba originalmente destinada a ser de tres años, pero Cantrell tuvo que lidiar con algunas dolencias médicas: "tuve una cirugía de hombro. Tuve que conseguir unas espuelas de hueso y cartílago desgarrado, cuidado, por lo ponen me devuelven un poco,"dice. "Pero nos hemos estado escribiendo a través de todo el proceso".

The band plans to head into the studio early this year, according to Cantrell. The break between records wasn’t originally intended to be three years, but Cantrell had to deal with some medical ailments: “I had shoulder surgery. I had to get some bone spurs and torn cartilage taken care of, so that put me back a little bit,” he says. “But we’ve been writing through the whole process.”
