Billy Corgan participó en una mesa redonda en el SXSW Festival ayer que tenía como tema el estado de la industria y dejó algunas frases interesantes, leemos en Billboard.

El líder de The Smashing Pumpkins considera que los artistas que salen en estos tiempos “han crecido pensando que el objetivo es hacerse famosos. No ser respetados – no ser peligrosos.” Afirma Corgan que una vez el artista firma su contrato discográfico, “eres la nueva stripper.”

Ya en sus tiempos, la industria no era un modelo agradable. “Sabía que estaba siendo explotado pero era una oferta Faustiana”

 

Apostilla el músico: “No lo llaméis rock and roll. Yo fui parte de una generación que cambió el mundo – y fue tomado por fantasmas (poseurs).”

“[Artists that break through now] have grown up thinking that being famous is the goal,” he said. “Not to be respected – not to be dangerous.” He compared breakthrough artists to prostitutes, saying, “[once you make that deal] you’re just the fresh stripper.”

“Don’t call it rock and roll,” Corgan said. “I was part of a generation that changed the world – and it was taken over by poseurs.”
