“Mookie Blaylock’s first tour was with Alice in Chains, down the West Coast. There was the Alice in Chains minivan and the Mookie Blaylock minivan, and my best friend Keith was driving the Alice in Chains minivan and being an all-around roadie/tech/lighting guy. I was in the van with Mookie Blaylock, and we would have food fights between the minivans at 80 miles an hour on I-5.

“Mookie Blaylock and Alice in Chains were different on every level. Why they would fit together I didn’t know, but they almostseemed like one big band then.”

El frontman de Nirvana Kurt Cobain ayudó a crear una mayor aceptación de clima musical para músicos homosexuales al decir que ser gay era algo que estaba bien, según la baterista Patty Schemel de Hole en una entrevista en la revista.

he late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain helped create a more accepting musical climate for queer musicians and said being gay is cool, according to Hole drummer Patty Schemel in an interviewwith Out magazine.

Schemel, the subject of an upcoming documentary, Hit So Hard,tells Out‘s Adam Rathe that she grew up feeling like a freak when she discovered she was gay. “I talk about finding David Bowie and Klaus Nomi and Patti Smith and them being these little beacons of light for me,” she says. “I found myself and I found this sense of self in music.”

While discussing the male-dominated grunge scene of the early 1990s, Schemel suggests it all changed when Nirvana gained popularity. “When Kurt [Cobain] came along, he said — through his music and the way he spoke about things — that freaks are cool,” she says. “He said that being gay is cool, and that made the climate even better for us.”

El 3 de abril Candlebox regresan con un nuevo disco titulado “Love Stories And Other Musings” que presentan con un primer single titulado “Believe In It”.

El frontman Kevin Martin ha hablado con Loudwire acerca de la creación del tema: “Cuando estábamos en el proceso creativo de la canción, juro por dios que era el único que lo oía, pero hay un elemento de Jackson 5 en el ritmo de esa canción y no sé de donde vino o porque mis oídos lo pillaron.”

“La belleza de la música es que permite a tu mente ir a donde sea y es cuando empezó a darme vueltas lo de Jackson 5. Estaba viendo vídeos de Michael Jackson cantando ‘A,B,C’ cuando él tenía 7 u 8 años y lo emocionante que para él era ser músico y que toda la familia tuviese tanto talento.”

Esas sensaciones ayudarían a dar forma al tema, cuya letra se convirtió en un tributo y una carta abierta a su hijo pequeño. “De inmediato empecé a pensar en mi hijo y pensando qué iba a dejarle, qué iba a dejarle como padre. Si hay una cosa que quiero que sepa es que siempre estaré ahí para apoyarle en cualquier decisión, cualquier dirección o camino que tome en su vida. Quiero llevarle más allá, quiero ayudarle a llegar ahí.”

Reconoce Martin que “si hay algo en el mundo que necesitamos es amor y paciencia, eso seguro. Podemos sobrevivir sin coches, sin gasolina pero sin amor y paciencia, ¿qué tenemos?”

On 3 April Candlebox returning with a new album entitled “Love Stories And Other Musings” presented with a first single entitled “Believe In It”.

The frontman Kevin Martin has talked to Loudwire about the creation of the subject: “When we were in the creative process of the song, swear by God that was the only one who heard it, but there is an element of Jackson 5 in the rhythm of this song and I don’t know where they came or because my ears caught.”

“The beauty of music is that it allows your mind to go anywhere and is when he started to give me laps of the Jackson 5.” “I was watching videos of Michael Jackson singing ‘ A, B, C’ when he was 7 or 8 years and exciting for him was to be musician and that the family had so much talent.”

Those feelings will help shape the subject, whose lyric became a tribute and an open letter to his young son. “I immediately started to think about my son and thinking what was going to leave him, what was going to leave him as a father.” If there is one thing I know is that I will always be there to support you in any decision, any direction or path you take in your life. “I want to take you beyond, I want to help you get there.”

Recognizes Martin that “If there is something in the world we need is love and patience, that safe.” “We can survive without cars, out of gas but without love and patience, do we have?”

A principios de año, el batería de los canadienses The Black Keys, Patrick Carney, se quedó a gusto con Nickelback acusando a sus compatriotas de ser los verdugos del rock. Ahora la gente de la MTV ha entrevistado al dúo y les ha preguntado si se consideran unos snobs musicales.

Jerry Cantrell será honrado en el show benéfico de MusiCares MAP  en Los Ángeles el 31 de mayo segun Blabbermouth.  Él podrá recibir el Premio de Stevie Ray Vaughn, y Alice In Chains tocará en el show.  El show se llevará a cabo en el Club Nokia y será la primera actuación de AIC de 2012.

“Por lo que he visto, la adicción puede ser un riesgo laboral en el negocio de la música y lo conocen de primera mano cómo la MusiCares MAP Fund que ayuda a artistas y miembros de la comunidad de música  que encuentran los recursos necesarios para la recuperación,” dijo Cantrell. “He sido un defensor por un largo tiempo, y estoy orgulloso de ayudar a recaudar y recaudar fondos para que esta organización pueda continuar salvando vidas”.

Jerry Cantrell will be honored at MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Show in Los Angeles on May 31st according to Blabbermouth.  He’ll be receiving the Stevie Ray Vaughn Award, and Alice In Chains will perform.  The show will take place at Club Nokia, and will be AIC’s first performance of 2012.

“From what I’ve seen, addiction can be an occupational hazard in the music business and I know firsthand how the MusiCares MAP Fund helps artists and members of the music community find the resources for recovery,” said Cantrell. “I’ve been a supporter for a long time, and I’m proud to help raise awareness and funds so this organization can continue to save lives.”

Breve entrevista con el guitarrista de Stone Temple Pilots Dean DeLeo que está ahora en su página web (The Rat’s brief interview)

Cuando se le preguntó acerca de la nueva música de STP  Dean dice, “Posiblemente, estamos sólo disfrutando de la vida familiar ahora y disfrutando de nuestros hijos.”

Cuando se le preguntó sobre el 20 aniversario de “Core”, ” Scott y yo estábamos hablando sólo hace un par de semanas, y nos gustaría ir allí a tocar Core en completo.”  También  bromeó que un libro de mesita de STP podría tener algunas fotos incriminatorias.

The Rat’s brief interview with Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo is now up on their website.

When asked about new STP music coming Dean said, “Possibly, we’re just kind of enjoying home life right now and enjoying our kids.”

When asked about Core‘s 20th anniversary, ““Scott and I were just talking a couple of weeks ago, and we’d like to go out there and perform [Core] in its entirety.”  He also joked that an STP coffee table book might have some incriminating photos.
