Chris Cornell revela su canción favorita de Soundgarden

Chris Cornell declaró ayer durante su entrevista con el New York Times Arts and Leisure Weekend Q&A que su canción favorita de Soundgarden de siempre es “Head Down”." Dijo que usó el mismo ajuste de "Burden In My Hand" y al principio no pudo averiguar la afinación que Ben Shepherd utilizaba en Head Down (Shepherd escribió la música y la letra a Head Down).


Cornell también bromeo describieno  el riff a Rusty Cage "Tradicionalmente Sabbathesco."

"Chris Cornell said yesterday during his interview with the New York Times Arts and Leisure Weekend QA that his favorite song from Soundgarden always is"Head Down"." He said that he used the same adjustment for "Burden In My Hand" and initially could not find the tuning Ben Shepherd used in Head Down (Shepherd wrote the music and lyrics to Head Down).


Cornell also kidding said the riff to Rusty Cage "hillbilly Sabbath."

Creed responden a las críticas

Scott Stapp y Mark Tremonti de Creed aparecieron en el especial de VH1 Classic Metal evolución del Metal en el que se habló del Grunge. Stapp tuvo que decir algunas cosas sobre lo de ser un plagio de Eddie Vedder:

Scott Stapp: Se trata de una comparación que hacía la prensa. Pensé que sólo era natural, que tenía una voz de barítono. He oído hablar de Cornell, he oído hablar de Eddie Vedder, he oído Hootie y the Blowfish.

Tremonti y Stapp también dijeron lo siguiente acerca del Grunge:

Scott Stapp: creo que empezamos algo nuevo. Creo que el Grunge terminó  y entonces llegamos y era más que un tipo de música de rock clásico atemporal . Creemos que si esas mismas personas que pueden habernos odiado, a nosotros y a nuestros discos, acabarían comprarlo.

Mark Tremonti: Mis raíces fueron desde el metal "más oscuro" como  cosas como los primeros  Soundgarden,  la primera grabación de Alice In Chains. Parecía como todas las bandas dentro del movimiento Grunge no eran muy similares. Es difícil determinar con precisión lo que fue la escena grunge, porque Soundgarden, Mudhoney y Screaming Trees son bandas muy diferentes y las metieron allí.

Scott Stapp: No es algo que molesta que nosotros desde ese punto de vista estamos obteniendo fama fuera de casa. Sabíamos que nuestro sonido fue totalmente diferente.

Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti from Creed appeared on the VH1 Classic Metal Evolution Grunge special and talked about Grunge. Stapp had this to say regarding to being called an Eddie Vedder ripoff:

Scott Stapp: That was a comparison the press was making. I thought it was only natural, I had a baritone 

voice. I’ve heard Cornell, I’ve heard Vedder, I’ve heard Hootie and the Blowfish.

Tremonti and Stapp also had the following to say about Grunge.

Scott Stapp: I think we started something new. I think Grunge ended and then we came out, and it was more of a timeless classic rock music kind of thing. We believe that if those same people that may have hated us dug deeper into our records, they’d end up buying it.

Mark Tremonti: My roots were in metal so the darker leading stuff like the earlier Soundgarden stuff I was really into, the first Alice In Chains record. It seemed like all of the bands within the Grunge movement weren’t very alike. It’s hard to pinpoint what the grunge scene was, because Soundgarden and Mudhoney and the Screaming Trees are very different bands and to lump us in there as well.

Scott Stapp: It wasn’t something that bothered us from that standpoint of we’re getting just thrown away and passed off as a sound-alike because we knew our sound was totally different.

Chris Cornell ha comentado que hay bastante posibilidades de que toquen canciones nuevas en la gira australiana

El vocalista de Soundgarden,  Chris Cornell,  comentó brevemente ayer durante una larga entrevista en vivo con el New York Times Arts and Leisure Weekend sobre la posibilidad de tocar y cantar 
material nuevo en su próxima gira australiana de Soundgarden.


Cuando un fan se lo preguntó a Cornell este  dijo "tal vez". Dijo que Soundgarden empezará mañana los ensayos (lo que sería hoy ya que la entrevista tuvo lugar ayer) y que él podría discutirlo con el resto de la banda.


Cornell también declaró sobre su nuevo álbum, "si tuviéramos que hacerlo para mañana podríamos probablemente haberlo hecho." Mencionó que lo único que lo mantiene atrasado eran nuevas ideas que se van agregando.

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell briefly commented yesterday during a lengthy live interview at the New York Times Arts and Leisure Weekend regarding the possibility of Soundgarden playing 
new material on their upcoming Australian tour.


When a fan asked Cornell about it he said “maybe.” He said Soundgarden are starting rehearsals tomorrow (which would be today since the interview took place yesterday) and that he’d discuss it with the rest of the band.


Cornell also stated regarding the new album, “If we had to be done tomorrow we could probably be done.” He mentioned the only thing holding it back was new ideas being added.

Soundgarden terminarán su nuevo disco después de la gira por Australia

El guitarrista, Kim Thayil, de Soundgarden realizó una entrevista con mixdownmag.com.au y habló sobre el estado del nuevo álbum de Soundgarden. Con la banda planea completar el nuevo álbum después de su gira australiana (que termina el 5 de febrero) mi apuesta es que el álbum estará terminado a finales de febrero y principios de marzo. Parece que el nuevo saldrá definitivamente para comienzos de mayo o de junio. Kim tuvo dijo lo siguiente:


"Las primeras canciones fueron escritas hace aproximadamente un año y hemos grabado en marzo, pero por supuesto que nuestras sesiones de grabación son rotas bastante a menudo debido a las comités que Matt tiene con Pearl Jam y Chris con su gira en solitario, así mientras están de gira, Ben y yo trabajaría en la guitarra y en el bajo y clas canciones llegarán. Entonces los chicos vuelverán y desarrollaremos otra mate­r­ial, así que nos vamos a lograr al final de este documento. Todavía estamosescribiendo mate­r­ial nuevo, pero estamos cerca a grabar y mezclar los instru­mentos básicas y llevar instru­mentos para un numero de las canciones. Así que esperamos que podamos com­plete el registro después de Australia".

Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil did an interview with mixdownmag.com.au and talked about the status of Soundgarden’s new album. With the band planning on completing the new album after their Australian tour (which ends February 5th) my bet is the album will be finished by late February/early March. This seems to put the new album on track for a late May/early June release. Kim had this to say:


“The first songs were writ­ten about a year ago and we recorded in March, but of course our record­ing ses­sions are bro­ken up schedule-wise because of the com­mit­ments that Matt has with Pearl Jam and Chris with his solo tour, so while they’re on tour, Ben and I would work on gui­tar and bass and arrang­ing songs. Then those guys come back and we’ll develop other mate­r­ial, so we’re get­ting close to the end of this record. We’re still writ­ing new mate­r­ial, but we’re close to record­ing and track­ing the basic instru­ments and lead instru­ments for a num­ber of the songs. So we hope that we can com­plete the record some­time after Australia.”
