Fucking Sam Bayer is great. Just totally different style than mine. Incredible song, of course. It was dark and ugly and sexy, and Cobain was creepy and funny. It’s just like, God, I can’t imagine the song and the video separate from each other. The video sort of defined that song, and the time—it was just post-Madonna, post-Jovi, you know what I mean? It was like, This is what we need. It was the tonic for the times.

I think Mark Pellington is a really talented guy; Pearl Jam’s an amazing band. I just thought my Nirvana video was more interesting. I never liked seeing lyrics brought to life literally. I don’t wanna see children frozen, covered in blood. I don’t wanna picture who Jeremy is. I was too much of an ambitious, jealous, competitive guy to see any merit in that video.

Right when it started coming out that Kurt was doing drugs, I remember Steven Tyler called and wanted to help. I told Kurt, ‘Holy shit, Steven Tyler called my office and he wants to help you. Can I give him your number?’ And he was like, ‘Steven Tyler got to be a junkie for 18 fuckin’ years. I’ve only been doing drugs for an hour.’ Lots of stars called. Kirstie Alley called a lot for Courtney to try and make her become a Scientologist.

Dave Grohl dice que Krist Novoselic ha llevado a cabo el alma de Nirvana

El guitarrista y cantante de Foo Fighters reconoce que su compañero de la banda anterior continúa llevando el "alma" de Nirvana - que se separó tras el suicidio del líder Kurt Cobain el 8 de abril de 1994 -, mientras que andar con el bajista le despierta fuertes recuerdos emocionales.

Dave habló con la revista musical NME acerca de Krist, diciendo que "no ha cambiado ni un poco, así que al escucharlo hablar o contar historias o al oírlo hablar de Nirvana ... eso realmente me trae de nuevo la sensación de estar en la banda porque es parte de su alma".

Los 42 años de edad también señalan que la dinámica de la legendaria banda grunge fue desarrollada a través del equilibrio entre la personalidad y el empuje de Krist y Kurt.

The Foo Fighters guitarist and singer reckons his former bandmate continues to carry the “soul” of Nirvana – who broke up following the suicide of frontman Kurt Cobain on April 8, 1994 – while hanging around with the bass player awakens strong emotional memories.

Dave spoke to music magazine NME about Krist, saying that “he hasn’t changed a bit, so to hear him speak or to hear him tell stories or to hear him talk about Nirvana…it really brings back the feeling of being in the band because it’s just part of his soul”.

The 42-year-old also stated that the legendary grunge band’s dynamic was developed through the fine balance between the personality and drive of Krist and Kurt.

Dave said that “you’ve got Krist, who was totally politically motivated, and then you’ve got Kurt, who was just such a brilliant artist, that it was that weird conflict or dichotomy – or whatever it is”.

The Learn To Fly hitmaker added that “those two things shouldn’t really co-exist in a way, so, whenever something’s released, usually to me it’s only authentic if it comes from Krist Novoselic”.

Legend has it that you were the person who introduced Gossard & Ament to Vedder in 1990 by handing the famous Stone Gossard demos to a young Eddie. There are many versions of this story. Tell us once and for all how it really happened.

My recollection is of meeting Stone and Jeff at a hotel in Los Angeles. They were starting a new band and asked if I was interested in playing with them. I wasn’t ready to move to Seattle and start a new life there and also had some touring obligations with other bands. They gave me the demo of their music that had Matt Cameron on drums and asked me to check it out and maybe pass it on to any singers I might know. So I gave it to Eddie. I left on a 3 month tour with Redd Kross and about a month later I heard that Eddie went up to Seattle to play with them.
