Chris Cornell hablando de las razones por las que ha hecho el Songbook

El enfoque acústico: 


En el disco en vivo, los aficionados encontrarán versiones de Led Zeppelin (Thank You) y John Lennon (Imagine) junto con versiones de Soundgarden (Black Hole Sun) y Audioslave "Like a Stone", así como el más reciente single de Cornell, "The Keeper" que escribió para Gerard Butler,para  la película "Machine Gun Preacher". La inspiración para una gira acústica comenzó hace unos cuatro años. "Hice un show acústico en Estocolmo, que fue grabado y yo no lo sabía. En el momento en que regresé a los EE.UU.,  me estaban poniendo en la radio y la gente me decía que quería más de eso de mí ", dice. "Yo había hecho unos pocas cosas en acústica alguna vez, pero nunca pude entrar en el ritmo de la misma, así que decidí comprometerme con un recorrido completo. La experiencia hasta ahora ha trascendido todas mis expectativas 


Volver a grabar sus clásicos:


 "Con los años, tocando canciones una y otra vez reveló su potencial en un ambiente acústico", dice. "Durante los ensayos, no hago ejercicios de calentamiento vocal, que no me lleven a donde tengo que estar antes de un show, así es como me ocurrió con las versiones unplugged de las canciones rockeras. Hay canciones como "Black Hole Sun" que no se que gran parte de un tramo, hay otros que tienen un montón de rendimiento antes de encontrar el ajuste correcto. Algunas canciones que acabo de dar para arriba en algunos he tocado 100 veces (antes de que yo tenía) una revelación cómo se tocan, y entonces hay algo que yo nunca había hecho vivir y descubrir a través de los ensayos. Tengo una gran cantidad de material. Este tour es en realidad algo sacado sólo arañando la superficie de lo que es posible. "


The acoustic approach: 


On the live album, fans will find covers of Led Zeppelin’s Thank You and John Lennon’s Imagine alongside renditions of Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun and Audioslave’s Like a Stone, as well as Cornell’s most recent single, The Keeper, which he wrote for the Gerard Butler film Machine Gun Preacher. The inspiration for an acoustic tour started about four years ago. “I did an acoustic show in Stockholm that was recorded and I didn’t know it. By the time I got back to the U.S., it was playing on the radio and people were telling me that they wanted more of that from me,” he says. “I’d done a few one-off acoustics, but I could never get in the rhythm of it, so I decided to commit myself to a full tour. That experience so far has transcended all my expectations.”


Re-creating his classics: 


“Over the years, playing songs again and again revealed their potential in an acoustic setting,” he says. “During rehearsals, I don’t do vocal warm-ups, they don’t take me where I need to be before a show, so that’s how I came up with the unplugged versions of my rock songs. There are songs like Black Hole Sun that aren’t that much of a stretch, there are others that take a lot of performance before I find the right fit. Some songs I just gave up on, some I played 100 times (before I had) a revelation how to play them, and then there are some that I had never done live and I discover through rehearsal. I have such a wealth of material. This tour is really just scratching the surface of what’s possible.”
